Tiger Woods has persevered through two back operations since he last played in a golf competition 15 months prior. He had another back operation that thumped him out of the Masters without precedent for 2014. He had four knee operations before that.
None of that matters to Ernie Els when Woods profits to rivalry for Thursday at the PGA Tour's Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
Els is more inquisitive about what is happening inside Woods' head.
"The ability's there," Els said. "It's been demonstrated. It doesn't leave. It's what you consider yourself. It's what you think where you are. We take a gander at this extraordinary player, yet he's not seeing a similar stuff in his own brain. A great deal of us are that way."
Els outlined Albany Golf Course, where Woods will come back from the longest cutback of his profession.
The Hero World Challenge highlights a 18-man field and no cut.
